SILVANO ISALBERTI (SAN GIOVANNI LUPATOTO, 3 SEPTEMBER 1875 – BRUSSELS, 11 JULY, 1940)
He likely made his debut in 1899 and, by 1904, was engaged to sing at the Italian Opera in Holland, where he achieved great success. Until 1908, he performed with this ensemble, appearing in Dutch premieres of Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci, Tosca, Fedora (in 1906 alongside Gemma Bellincioni), and L’amico Fritz (1907). During the 1907–08 season, he embarked on an extensive guest performance tour across Germany.
After discussions with M. de Hondt, the manager of the Italian Opera in Holland, he became a soloist at the Rembrandt Theater in Amsterdam for the 1908–09 season. In 1909, he performed at La Scala as Jason in Cherubini’s Medea, partnering with Ester Mazzoleni. A decade later, in 1919, he returned to Amsterdam to sing in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera.
Following this, he performed with smaller opera troupes in Holland and Belgium. After retiring from the stage, he dedicated himself to teaching singing in Brussels.
