ANDREAS DIPPEL (KASSEL, GERMANY, NOVEMBER 30, 1866 – HOLLYWOOD, CALIFORNIA, MAY 12, 1932)

He was the son of a manufacturer. He initially studied singing with Nina Zottmayr in Kassel, followed by further training with Julius Hey in Berlin, Alberto Leoni in Milan, and Johannes Ress in Vienna. He made his debut in 1887 at the Stadttheater in Bremen, performing as Lyonel in Martha.

In 1908, he became the joint manager of the Metropolitan Opera alongside Giulio Gatti-Casazza. He resigned from this position in 1910 and subsequently managed the Philadelphia-Chicago Grand Opera Company from 1910 to 1913. Following this, he founded the Dippel Opera Comique Company.

Known for his adaptability, he frequently stepped into roles when his colleagues were unavailable, even substituting for Jean de Reszke on several occasions.

In the 1920s, he established his own opera school at the Ithaca Conservatory of Music. Later in life, he transitioned to the film industry, where he worked as a voice coach and musical advisor.
