LISE CHARNY (1890 – 1950)
She made her debut in 1910 at the Grand Opéra in Paris as Dalila in Samson et Dalila by Saint-Saëns. For many years, she had a successful career at this opera house, where her roles included Erda in Der Ring des Nibelungen, Uta in Sigurd, the Queen in Hamlet, Magdalene in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Emilia in Otello, Amneris in Aida, and the title role in Hérodiade.
From 1919, she also performed at the Opéra-Comique in Paris, where she achieved great success in roles such as Carmen, Charlotte in Werther, Taven in Mireille, and Marceline in L’Attaque du Moulin.
