ÉMILE GALLINS (FLERS-BREUCQ, FRANCE, 1888 – ? 1934)
Émile Gallins pursued vocal studies at the conservatory in Roubaix before continuing his training privately in Paris. His operatic debut came in 1919, performing as Radamès in Aida in Ghent, where he remained until 1921. His career then took him to various cities, including Marseille, Algiers, and Antwerp, where he performed for three seasons.
From 1925 to 1927, Gallins was associated with La Monnaie in Brussels, further cementing his reputation. During this period, he also appeared in roles in Lyon, Toulouse, Lille, and other cities. Notable performances included Don José in Carmen and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly in Lille (1928) and Werther in Werther as well as Février’s Oletta, la fille du Corse in Marseille (1929).
In the 1930/31 season, Gallins joined the Municipal Theater in Mülhausen (now Mulhouse) and sang with the company in Colmar and Nancy, expanding his artistic contributions to these regions.
