Daniel Vigneau (Baritone) (Lyon, France 1881 - ?)



He studied singing under Duvernoy at the Paris Conservatory, where he won a price. In 1907 his debut occurred at the Paris Opéra-Comique, where he appeared for the next twenty years. Here on 15. 5. 1914 he sang in the premiere of Henri Rabaud's opera ''Marouf'' in the part of Ali. The same year he sang in the première of de Falla's opera ''La vida breve''. Already in 1908 he  created the role of Mizgir in the Paris première of Rimsky-Korssakov's ''Snegourotchka''. He sang at the Opéra-Comique in many other important premières (among other things also in 1910 in the premiere of ''On ne badine pas avec l'amour'' of Gabriel Pierné, in 1913 in the premiere of ''Le Carilloneur'' of Xavier Leroux). He also performed with success in Nice and Monte Carlo. In 1924 he sang at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris in the premiere of the opera ''Les Burgraves'' of Léon Sachs, also appeared at the Opera House in Monte Carlo in in the premiere of  É. Chabrier's ''Une Éducation manquée''. In 1924 and 1928 he guested in Holland; his career lasted till the years after the Second World War.
