BRUNO LANDI (VOLTERRA, 25 APRIL, 1900 – BUENOS AIRES, 8 MAY, 1968)
He made his debut at the Opera House of Campi Bisenzio as the Duke in Verdi’s Rigoletto (1925). In 1927, he appeared in Florence as Almaviva in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia. In 1931, he performed at the Teatro Regio in Parma, again in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, and later in Gounod’s Faust (1939). In 1933, at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, he appeared in I Quattro Rusteghi.
In 1936, he made his debut at Teatro alla Scala as Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff. In 1938, he traveled to the United States, where he performed in San Francisco, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and at the Metropolitan Opera in Rigoletto, Martha, L’Elisir d’Amore, and L’Amico Fritz. He then made successful guest appearances in Mexico City, Montevideo, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Santiago, and Rosario.
In 1939, he returned to Teatro alla Scala and performed in Wolf-Ferrari’s La Dama Boba. In 1947, he appeared at the Teatro Pergolesi in Manon.
