CARLO CARTICA (ROME, 1865 – BOSTON, 1935)
In 1894, he already appeared
at La Scala, where he sang the Duke in Rigoletto and Edgardo in Lucia di
Lammermoor alongside Nellie Melba. During the 1903-04 season, he performed at
the Teatro Regio in Parma with great success as Alvaro in Verdi’s La forza del
destino and Raoul in Gli Ugonotti (Les Huguenots). From 1909 to 1910, he was in
North America as part of the Boston Opera ensemble, where he achieved
significant success as Manrico in Il Trovatore with Guerrina Fabbri, as well as
in roles like Radames in Aida and Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor. In 1911, he
toured America with the Lombardi Opera Company, performing as Manrico at the
Teatro Nacional in Washington. He also sang Manrico in 1916 at the Teatro
Costanzi in Rome.
