FRANCISCO GRANADOS (TENOR) (ALMODOVAR/SPAIN,
1870 - ? 1946)
In 1894 Granados made
his debut at the Gran Teatro de Cõrdoba in a benefit concert for the tenor
Rafael Bezares. He studied singing in Madrid, perfected his Italian and later continued
his education in Russia, where Angelo Masini advised him. He made his debut at
the Teatro Chiabrera in Savona as Turiddu in ‘’Cavalleria Rusticana’’ (1896). In
1901 he appeared at the Teatro Reale in Madrid as Rodolfo in G. Puccini’s ‘’La Boheme’’
opposite Eva Tetrazzini, Marino Aineto and Miguel Riera. At the same theater,
on January 14th 1902, he performed in ‘’Lucia di Lammermoor’’ with Barrientos,
Aineto and Verdaguer. In 1898 he appeared at the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia as
Lohengrin.
