Henri (Enrico) Berriel (Baritone)



He was of French origins. First he graduated in medicine and then studied singing. He made his debut in the early 1900s at Paris in ‘’Traviata’’ and ‘’Carmen’’. After successful appearances he was engaged by the Opera House of Nice to sing in ‘’Otello’’ and ‘’Dolores’’ of  T. Breton. In 1904 he went to Italy to perform at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa in ‘’La dannazione di Faust’’ and ‘’Siberia’’. In 1910 he appeared at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome as Wotan in ‘’Walkiria’’. He was a great friend of the French dramatist Victorien Sardou. His wife was the famous soprano Amelie Talexis.
