Cecilia David (Soprano) (Odessa, Ukraine 1878 - Milan 1909)




She was trained at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in C. Ferni-Giraldoni's class, theatrical art she studied with I. I. Palechek.  She made her debut as Lisa in ''Pique dame'' at the theatre of Rostov-na-donu, then she appeared in Moscow (1903, Thеatre Aquarium), Irkutsk, St. Petersburg (New Summer Theatre Olimpia, 1905). Since 1907 David sang with great success at the italian opera stages (Palermo, Teatro Maggio, Parma, 1908, Teatro Regio, Rome, Milan, Genua, Venezia, in Spain (Barcelona, 1907), Monte Carlo (1909). She created in Monte Carlo the role of princess in ''Rusalka'' (Dargomyzhsky). Her death was caused by a sudden attack of meningitis.
