He studied singing under Fritz Kerzmann as well
as at the music colleges of Frankfurt a. M. and Berlin . He made his debute in 1937 as lyric
tenor at the Volksoper
in Berlin , to
which he belonged till 1942. Since that time he was also a member of the Bayerischen Staatsoper in Munich . He retired from
the stage in 1977. Married to the known soprano Sari Barabas.
