His father Jaroslaw Dworsky (1853 - 1935)
worked long years as an opera singer at the Opera House in Königsberg and was
engaged in the 1885-86 season by the Metropolitan Opera in New York . First he studied singing under his
father, after he had studied medicine first at the Königsberger University .
Then he was a pupil of Ernst Grenzebach and Oscar Daniel in Berlin . He made his debut in the 1916-17
season at the Berlin Deutsche Oper. In the 1921-22 season he was engaged by the
Opera House in Königsberg. From there he joined in 1922 to the Berlin Urban Opera
and was in the 1924-26 and 1927-30 seasons a member of the Berlin State Opera. In
the 1926-27 season he was engaged by the Dresden State Opera. He made also
gesut appearances in Austria ,
Holland and Spain . Till 1944 he sang in Berlin and worked there
as a singing teacher till 1953. He reached his best achievements in lyrical,
then also in dramatic tenor parts: as Ferrando in ‘’Così fan tutte’’, Lyonel in
Flotow’s ‘’Martha’’, Duke in ‘’Rigoletto’’, Manrico in ‘’Trovatore’’, Max in ‘’Freischütz’’,
Wilhelm Meister in ‘’Mignon’’ of Thomas, Lensky in ‘’Eugene Onegin’’ of Tchaikovsky,
Cavaradossi in ‘’Tosca’’, Pinkerton in ‘’Madama Butterfly’’ and as Dimitri in ‘’Boris
Godunov’’.
