Louis Kreidler (Baritone) (? 1880 - ?)



Already in the 1912-1913 season he was engaged by the Metropolitan Opera in New York and here appeared among other things as comprimario in the première of the operas ‘’Boris Godunov’’ (19. 3. 1913, under A. Toscanini) and ‘’Cyrano de Bergérac’’ by W. Damrosch (27. 2. 1913). He sang there also the role of Kothner in ‘’Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg’’. In the 1913-1915 seasons he took part in the first opera performances on the open-air stage of Ravinia near Chicago, where he was to be heard in major baritone roles. In the 1916-1917 season he appeared at the Chicago Opera as Sharpless in ‘’Madama Butterfly’’, Silvio in ‘’Pagliacci’’, father in ‘’Hänsel und Gretel’’, Escamillo in ‘’Carmen’’ and in the première of the opera ‘’Madeleine’’ by V. Hervbert. Later he appeared with the Century Opera Company in the cities of the USA.
