GIOVANNI BARDI (CAGLIARI, 1878 – HAVANA, 1918)


 



He studied singing in Milan under Carlo Schneider and made his debut in 1905 at the Teatro Sociale in Monza as Angelotti in Tosca. He enjoyed a successful career in prominent opera houses throughout the Italian provinces.

In 1911, he performed at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome as Ramfis in Verdi’s Aida. He returned to the Teatro Costanzi in 1914, appearing as Baldassare in Donizetti’s La Favorita, the Cieco in Mascagni’s Iris, and Aldobrandini in Mascagni’s Parisina.

During the 1905-06 season, he appeared in Piacenza in the Italian premiere of Rossi’s opera Nadeya and as Colline in La Bohème. In the 1907-08 season, he performed at the Teatro Regio in Parma, where he sang in Brizzi’s Rose Rosse and Mascagni’s Amica, sharing the stage with Tina Poli-Randaccio and Emanuele Ischierdo.

From 1916 to 1918, he was engaged by the Teatro Nazionale in Havana, further expanding his international career.
