He was trained at the Paris Conservatoire. In
1891 he began his career as a Chorist at the Grand Opéra. He made his debut
there in 1893 as comprimario in the premiere of the opera ‘’Deidamie’’ by Henri
Marechal. Till 1940 he worked at the Grand. He also counted as a superior
interpreter of solo parts in oratorios. during many years he appeared with the
church concerts in Saint-Philippe-du-Roule in Paris . Since 1934 he was a professor of the Paris
Conservatoire.
