Walter Soomer (Baritone/Bass) (Liegnitz, Poland 1878 - Leipzig, Germany 1955)


                                                               Telramund

First he studied philosophy, then singing under Hermann Stoeckert and Anna Uhlig in Berlin. He made his debut in 1902 at the Stadttheater in Colmar. After the First World War, he started to appear as bass, again with success, as an interpreter of the part in R. Wagner's operas. Since 1927 he was a manager of the Gesang- und Opernschule in Leipzig. After 1945 he also been active as a director.
