His real name was František Pacal. He was a violinist in the
orchestra of the National Theatre in Prague
from 1887 to 1892. Then, after vocal studies with Gustav Walter in Vienna , Pacal sang in choruses in Cologne ,
Bremen , Graz
and Vienna . In
1897, he sang the small part of Ruodi in ''Guillaume Tell'' in Vienna , and immediately was made a soloist. Between
1905 and 1913, he sang succesively in Prague , Riga and Posen. During
the Great War, Pacal served as a senior official in the grain office in Prague . He recorded during 1902-1908. His
records are quite rare.
