Jean Delvoye (Baritone) (Liège 1861 - Ougrée 1938)

He studied singing at the Conservatory of Liège under Mr Bonheur, then with Carmon and Ismaël. He started his career in Dunkerque during the 1887-1888 season, then appeared in Angers and Nantes and Marseilles. After the season in Nice, he went to Lyon. Then he was engaged by the Opéra-Comique of Paris in which he performed many years. In 1901 he appeared there in Massenet’s ‘’Manon’’ opposite Mary Garden and Leon Beyle. In the same opera he sang also in 1905, but this time as a partner of Edmond Clement and Marguerite Carre. 1907 appeared in the premiere of the opera ‘’Le Chemineau’’ (1907) of X. Leroux. Probably he retired from the stage in 1910.
