His education took place at the Vienna
Konservatorium. In 1903 he made his debut at the Theater in Vienna . In 1904 he was engaged by the Volksoper in Vienna , to which he
belonged till 1907. In the 1907-1912 seasons he appeared at the Deutschen Theater in Prague , afterwards at the Deutschen Oper in Berlin
and in the 1913-1925 seasons he was the leading tenor of the Volksoper in Hamburg . In the 1925-1927
seasons he sang at the Stadttheater
in Hamburg ,
where he appeared among other things in 1927 in the premiere of the "Die versunkene Glocke" (La
Campana sommersa) by
O. Respighi. His stage repertoire
included Tamino in "Zauberflöte", Florestan in ‘’Fidelio’’, Max in ‘’Freischütz’’,
Lohengrin, Königssohn in "Königskindern", Turiddu in ‘’Cavalleria Rusticana’’,
Cavaradossi in ‘’Tosca’’ and Eleazar in ‘’La Juive’’. In 1906 he made 3 records for Zonophone.
