He was of Jewish origin and his
real name was Alfred Goldschmidt. First he was
trained as baritone and was active in this field till 1905. He appeared
successfuly at the Municipal theatre of Nuremberg (1899-1900), then appeared at
the Municipal Theatre of Regensburg (1900-1901), this followed by appearances
at the Municipal Theatre of Koblenz (1901-02) . His other appearances was happened
at the Municipal Theatre of Rostock (1902-03) and at the Municipal Theatre of
Basel (1903-04). In the 1904-05 season he sang at the Municipal Theatre Mülhausen. Then he changed to tenor and was engaged to appear at the
Opera House of Leipzig, whose member he remained till 1908. From 1908-10 he
sang at the Court Opera of Stuttgart ,
in the 1910-12 seasons at the Court Theatre of Coburg. His career reached his
climax after an engagement by the Deutschen Oper Berlin-Charlottenburg, to which
he belonged up to his military service in 1917. After the end of the war he
sang in the 1919-20 season at the National Theatre of Weimar. In 1909 he
appeared in Stuttgart
in the premiere of the opera ''Princess Brambilla'' of W. Braunfels. He made
guest appearances in Dresden , Brunswick , Wroclaw and Riga . The main emphasis
of her repertoire are the works of R. Wagner - Erik in ''Fliegenden Holländer'', Lohengrin, Siegmund in ''Walkure’’, Loge in
‘’Rheingold’’, Tristan, but also Arnoldo in Rossini’s ‘’Wilhelm Tell’’, Turiddu in ‘’Cavalleria Rusticana’’,
Canio in ‘’Pagliacci’’, Tamino in ‘’Magic flute’’ and Faust. Still in 1941 he lived
in Berlin ,
but what happened after is remaining obscure. He died June 17, 1937 and is buried at Weissensee
cemetery in Berlin.

DeleteAshot, thanks! I looking for information abaut grand grandmother. She was a singer Opera in Berlin on 18905 until 1905 aprox. Her name was "Elisabeth Breul" and lives in Charlottemburg, Berlin.
