Albertina Cassani (Soprano) (Bologna 1887 - ? 1965)




At the age of 18 she she made her debut at the municipal theatre of Portogruaro. From 1905-31 she appeared at different Italian theatres. In 1917 she had at the Teatro Regio of Parma a special success as Gilda in ‘’Rigoletto’’ of Verdi. She was appreciated in Spain where she guested in Madrid and Barcelona, above all, however, in Holland. Since 1911 she appeared many times as prima donna at the Italian opera house in Holland. Later she was active as a pedagogue in Bologna.

  1. The great German poet Rainer Maria Rilke wrote letters to her, published as "Briefe an eine Reisegefaehrtin". Her nickname was Putzi. She also appears as Cassani-Boehmer. Does your question mark pertain to her birth or death year? I have 1891 for birth, but didn't write down the source for it at the time.
