Ines Alfani-Tellini (Soprano) (Firenze 1896 – Milano 1985)

She was trained in Florence and Milan and made her debut in 1921 at the Teatro Dal Verme of Milan as Nedda in ‘’Pagliacci’’. In the same year she sang at the Teatro della pergola of Florence. After her successful appearance in 1922 as Nannetta in Verdi’s ‘’Falstaff’’ at the Teatro Regio of Parma, she was engaged by Teatro La Scala to perform in the same opera under the direction of Arturo Toscanini. Since then she had at La Scala successful career (1923-26 and 1938-40); she sang there among other things the role of Pamina in the ‘’Magic flute’’. In 1929 she guested with the ensemble of La Scala in Berlin. In 1928 she appeared at the Teatro Colón of Buenos Aires as Mimi in ‘’La Boheme’’, in 1935 at the Grand Opéra, Paris (again as Nannetta in ‘’Falstaff’’ of Verdi). She achieved her great success in the leading Italian opera theatres. She specialized, primarily, in Mozart's parts and in the classical Belcanto repertoire for coloratura soprano and, besides, counted as an excellent actress. After the last season at the Teatro Fenice in Venice she retired from the stage in 1942, however, appeared still as a concert soprano. Then she worked as a professor at the Accademia Chigiana in Siena and later at the conservatory of Tel Aviv in Israel.
