Ida Bergamasco (Mezzo-Soprano) ( Firenze ? 1880 - ? 1954)



She received her education in the singing school of maestro Teofilio Toledano in Firenze. There she also made her debut at the Teatro Della Pergola as Emilia in G. Verdi’s ‘’Otello’’ (1903). In the 1905-1906 season she appeared at the Teatro Dal Verme in Milan. At the Teatro Costanzi in Rome she sang the roles of Magdalene in ‘’I maestri cantori di Norimberga’’, Herodias in ‘’Salome’’ of  R. Strauss, and Eufemia in the Italian première of the opera ‘’Don Procopio’’ of G. Bizet. She made guest appearances at the Teatro Municipale in Piacenza (1908, as Marguerite in ‘’La damnation de Faust’’ of H. Berlioz, in 1913 as Adalgisa in ‘’Norma’’), at the Teatro Comunale in Reggio Emilia (1916, as Charlotte in J. Massenet’s ‘’Werther’’). She was also to be heard at the Teatro Alla Scala in Milano, where she debuted in 1918 as Amneris in ‘’Aida’’ and sang the title role in the premiere of the opera ‘’Urania’’of A. Favara. In 1919 she sang at the Arena di Verona the role of Nefte in ‘’Il Figliuol prodigo’’ of A. Ponchielli. Her repertoire included roles like Azucena in ”Trovatore’’, Eboli in G. Verdi’s ‘’Don Carlos’’, Preziosilla in ՛՛La forza del destino՛՛, Ulrica in ՛՛Un Ballo in maschera՛՛, Leonora in G. Donizetti's ''La Favorita'', Dalila in ''Samson et Dalila'' of C. Saint-Saëns, Ortrud in ''Lohengrin'', Fricka in ''Die Walkure'', Laura in ''La Gioconda'' of A. Ponchielli and Suzuki in ''Madame Butterfly''. She appeared in the premieres of the operas ''Sperduti nel buio'' of Stefano Donaudy (Palermo, in 1907 as Livia Blanchard) and ''La Sposa di Corinto'' of Pietro Canonica (1918, Teatro Argentina Rome).
