Carlo (Carlos) Barrera (Tenor) (Madrid 1879 - ?)

He had a long-standing successful career in the big Spanish stages, especially at the Teatro Liceo in Barcelona and at the Teatro Real in Madrid. During the first decade of twentieth century he also became known in Italy. In 1900 he sang at the Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, in 1901 at the Teatro Lirico in Milan as Samson in ‘’Samson et Dalila’’. In 1900 at  the Teatro Regio in Parma he sang as Radames in ‘’Aida’’ (as a partner of the Spanish soprano Carmen Bonaplata-Bau) and as Cavaradossi in ‘’Tosca’’. In 1903 he appeared at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo as Samson and Radames. In 1901 he took part in an Egypt tour of an Italian opera troop which appeared at the Teatro Khediviale in Cairo, where he sang in Verdi's ''Otello'', latter likewise one of his star roles. In Egypt he sang with Titta Ruffo.
