FRANCISCO GRANADOS (TENOR) (ALMODOVAR/SPAIN,
1870 - ? 1946)
In 1894, Granados made his debut at the Gran Teatro de Córdoba in a
benefit concert for the tenor Rafael Bezares. He studied singing in Madrid,
perfected his Italian, and later continued his education in Russia, where he
was advised by Angelo Masini. He made his debut at the Teatro Chiabrera in
Savona as Turiddu in Cavalleria
Rusticana (1896). In 1901, he appeared at the Teatro Reale in Madrid as
Rodolfo in G. Puccini’s La Bohème,
opposite Eva Tetrazzini, Marino Aineto, and Miguel Riera. At the same theater,
on January 14, 1902, he performed in Lucia
di Lammermoor with Barrientos, Aineto, and Verdaguer. In 1898, he
appeared at the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia as Lohengrin.
