His father Louis Goavec
was a shoemaker, his mother, Mary Josephine Augustine Demoy, was a dressmaker.
He studied singing at the Conservatory of Paris under Hettich. He made his
debut at the Opera-Comique in Paris on April 07, 1922 in G. Puccini’s ‘’Madam
Butterfly’’ (as imperial Commissioner). Here his repertoire included the French
Captain in ‘’l'Attaque du moulin’’, Ecuyer du Roy in ‘’Basoche’’, Moralès in
Carmen; Simonetti in ‘’Gismonda’’, d'Azincourt in ‘’Fortunio’’, Frederick in ‘’Lakmé’’,
the Cabaret singer in ‘’Louise’’; Pinkerton
in ‘’Madama Butterfly’’, M. De Brétigny in ‘’Manon’’, Ali in ‘’Mârouf’’, Bustamente
in ‘’Navarraise’’, Silvio in ‘’Pagliacci’’; Eurymaque in ‘’Pénélope’’, Jahel in
‘’le Roi d'Ys’’, Tosca Spoletta/Mario Cavaradossi) in ‘’Tosca’’.
