Jaroslav Gleich (Tenor) (Hodonin, Moravia 19. 03. 1900 - Prague, Czech Republic 28. 9. 1976)




He studied singing under H. Vávra in Prague and went to Italy for further studies. After his return he perfected his vocal under Egon Fuchs in Prague. He made his debut at the National Theater in Prague in G. Puccini’s ‘’Turandot’’ (1927). His repertoire included Alfrdo in ‘’La Traviata’’, Don Carlo, Duke in ‘’Rigoletto’’, Rodolfo in ‘’La Boheme’’, Cavaradossi  in ‘’Tosca’’, Pinkerton in ‘’Madama Butterfly’’. In 1938 he appeared at the Prague National Theater in the premiere of the opera ‘’Julietta’’ of B. Martinù. Beside his work on the stage he was a highly respected concert and oratorio singer and performed also in some films.
