In the 1927-28 season he worked at the Opera House of Dusseldorf; in 1927 he appeared at the Bayreuth Festival as Froh in R. Wagner's ''Rheingold''. In the 1927-28 season he sang at the Berlin Kroll Opera. In 1928 he performed there the title part in the German première of I. Stravinsky's ''Oedipus Rex''. His other stage roles were Tannhäuser, Parsifal, Max in ''Freischütz'',  Canio in ''Pagliacci'' and Turiddu in ''Cavalleria Rusticana''.
