GIORGINA CAPRILE (FLORENCE, 1877 - ROME, 1951)
She studied singing with Carignani in Milan. Her stage debut occurred
in 1900 at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome, where she portrayed Suzel in P.
Mascagni’s L'amico Fritz, sharing the stage with the renowned tenor Fernando De
Lucia, who sang the role of Fritz. In the same season, they also performed
together in G. Puccini’s La Bohème.
Over the following 15 years, she enjoyed success not only at famous
Italian opera houses but also in South American theaters. Among her most
notable roles were Violetta in La Traviata, Tosca, Mimì in La Bohème, and Manon
in Manon Lescaut.
