Pietro Medici (Tenor) (Sassuolo, Modena 1914 – Genova 1992)


He was a pupil of Emilio Piccoli in Milan, the teacher the famous tenor Tito Schipa. His stage debut occurred in 1937 at the Teatro Carani di Sassuolo as Edgardo in ‘’Lucia di Lammermoor’’ with Lina Pagliughi in the title part. During the following years and after the end of the Second World War he had at the famous Italian provincial operatic stages in lyrical tenor parts a significant career. He sang preferentially roles like Almaviva in ‘’Il Barbiere di Siviglia’’, Fenton in ‘’Falstaff’’, Duke in ‘’Rigoletto’’, Fernando in ‘’La Favorita’’, Nemorino in ‘’Elisir d'amore’’, Edgardo in ‘’Lucia di Lammermoor’’. He made guest performances in Switzerland, Holland (1947), France, Spain and Belgium. Also as a concert singer he had a significant career. In 1952 he retired from the stage.
