André Perret (Tenor) (Nîmes 1890 - ?)



He studied singing at the Paris Conservatoire under Guillamat and Saléza. Here He won the first prices in the yearly competitions and was engaged in the autumn, by 1914 by the Paris Opéra-Comique. Nevertheless, the outbreak of the First World War prevented the beginning of the engagement. He was drawn to the army and wounded twice. Only in 1920 he made his debut as baritone in Bagnères-de-Bigorre. Although he appeared in 1921 with great success in Geneva and Lüttich, he changed in 1921 to the tenor and sang in the 1921-1924 seasons at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, where he made his debut as Jean in ‘’Hérodiade’’ of  J. Massenet. He performed in the Brussels premières of the operas ‘’Boris Godunov’’ (1921) and ‘’La Fille de Roland’’ of Henri Rabaud (1921). His repertoire included from Duke in ‘’Rigoletto’’and Des Grieux in ‘’Manon’’ up to the Otello. In 1923 he made guest appearance at the Grand Opéra in Paris as Jean in ‘’Hérodiade’’ and Samson in ‘’Samson et Dalila’’ by C. Saint-Saëns and since 1924 was active for a row of years as the first tenor in this opera house. He gave guest performances in many French and Belgian operatic stages, under it in Marseille, Béziers, Lüttich and Spa, and appeared as a concert singer. He also appeared at the Opernhaus Aachen in Germany.
