Theo Karle (Theo Karle Johnston) (Tenor) (Perry, Iowa July 30, 1895 or 1893 - ? 1972)




He studied singing in Paris and made his debut at the Opéra-Comique as Almaviva in G. Rossini’s ‘’Il Barbiere di Siviglia’’. In the 1927-1930 seasons he was active in France and sang at the Opéra-Comique and at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. In 1930 he returned to his native country and till 1934 was the big star of the Columbia Broadcasting Radio System. Since 1933 he was a singing teacher at the New York School of Vocal Art, however, his career also continued at the concert hall.
