Jeanne Leclerc (Soprano) (Lille, France 1868 – ? 1914)




Already in 1889 she appeared at the Opéra-Comique in Paris. On 30. 5. 1890 she sang at this opera house a small part in the premiere of the opera ‘’La Basoche’’ of Messager. During the following 15 years she had a successful career at the Opéra-Comique. She stepped here among other things as Micaela in ‘’Carmen’’, Baucis in "Philémon et Baucis", Mireille, ‘’Mignon’’ and Rose in ‘’Les dragons de Villars’’. In 1895 she appeared at the Opéra-Comique in the premiere of the opera ‘’Xavière’’ of Théodore Dubois. In 1896 she sang in the première of Gluck’s ‘’Orpheus’’ as Cupid. She guested in 1891 at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo (among other things as Micaela in ‘’Carmen’’), sang there in 1899 in the premiere of the opera ‘’Messaline’’ by I. de Lara and was staying in 1901 once more in this house. In 1899 she performed at the Théâtre Renaissance in Paris in the title role in ‘’Lucia di Lammermoor‘’. In 1902 at the Théâtre du Château in Paris she sang the part of Gutrune in the Paris première of "Götterdämmerung". At Covent Garden she appeared in 1899 as a guest in the première of ‘’Le chalet’’ by Adam. In 1900 she guested at the Théâtre de la Monnaie Brussels. At the Opéra-Comique she often appeared as a partner of the baritone Gabriel Soulacroix.
