Vittoria Palombini (Contralto) (? 1906 † Milano, Italia 1971)

She made her debut in 1928. In the 1929-1930 seasons she made guest appearances at Italian Opera in Holland. From 1933 to 1963 she was active at La Scala, where she appeared as Fricka in "Walküre", Meg Page in ‘’Falstaff’’, Maddalena in ‘’Rigoletto’’, Hedwige in ‘’Wilhelm Tell’’. One of her star roles was the part of witch in ‘’Hansel and Gretel’’ by Humperdinck, which she sang several times at La Scala (since 1950). At this famous theater she appeared on 7. 3. 1934 in the premiere of the opera ‘’Il Dibuk’’ of Lodovico Rocca. In 1934 and 1939 she took part at the festival of Arena di Verona. In the 1949-1952 seasons she performed regularly at the Stoll Theatre in London. In 1947 she participated at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma in the premiere of Gian Francesco Malipiero’s ‘’I Capricci di Callot’’. On 26. 1. 1957 she sang in the premiere of ‘’Les Dialogues des Carmélites’’ of Poulenc at La Scala as Mère Jeanne, already in 1953 she was there in the premiere of I. Pizzetti’s ‘’Cagliostro’’. In 1955 she again appeared at La Scala in the opera premiere, this time in "Il Giudizio Universale" of V. Tosatti. In 1957 she took part at the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli in the premiere of the opera ‘’Vivi’’ of Franco Mannino.
