Thorkild Noval (Baritone) (Dänemark 18. 5. 1903 - Dänemark ? 1958)



He received his education in Rome and Paris and made his debut as baritone in France. In 1928 he gave a recitals in Copenhagen. He continued his education in Berlin, where he was a pupil of Hermann Gura. In 1931 he appeared as baritone at the Städtische Opernhaus in Berlin, then he was retrained by the pedagogue Ivo Ross to the tenor and in the 1933-1935 seasons sang as tenor at the Berlin Staatsoper. In 1935 he sang at  the Volksoper in Berlin in the premiere of the operetta "Schach dem König" by W. W. Goetze. In the 1935-1936 season he was engaged by the Stadttheater in Kiel, from 1936 to 1944 he was a member of the Staatsoper in Hamburg. In  the 1936-1937 season at the  Festspielen of Glyndebourne  he had a significant success as Tamino in "Zauberflöte". He made successful guest appeared in Paris, London, Belgrade, Sofia and New York. In the 1938-1941 seasons he performed at the Festival of Zoppot as Glad in "Rheingold" and as Steuermann in "Fliegenden Holländer". Since 1950 he lived again in Denmark.
