Andrea Toscani (Tenor) (Monticelli d'Ongina, Italy 1885 - Milan, Italy 1947)

He studied singing at the conservatories of Florence and Milan and made his debut in 1915 at the Teatro Politeama in Genoa as Manrico in ‘’Trovatore’’. He sang the part of Manrtico, his star role in Turin (Teatro Vittorio Emanuele), Milan (Teatro Dal Verme, 1917) Rome (Teatro Costanzi, 1917). Another star role was Otello, which he sang in Florence (Teatro della pergola, 1918), Bologna (Teatro Comunale, 1920), Bari (Teatro Petruzzelli), Genoa (Teatro Margherita, 1921) and in Milan (Teatro Carcano). In 1918 he appeared in Palermo (Teatro Massimo) and Roma (Teatro Argentina). In 1921 at the Teatro Regio in Turin sang the part of Tannhäuser. The same year at the Arena di Verona he performed as Samson in ‘’Samson et Dalila’’ of C. Saint-Saëns. He retired from the stage in 1922. He sat down in Milan as a pedagogue; Antonio Melandri and Emilio Renzi among other things belonged to his pupils. In 1920, as Monsieur Toscani, he made a few records (opera arias and songs) for Disque-à-Saphir Opéra.
