Born in 1877, she was a soloist of the
Mariinsky Theatre, St Petersburg, from 1902 to 1917, and was distinguished as a
Wagner singer as well as an interpreter of roles in the Russian repertoire like
Olga in ''Eugene Onegin'', the Countess in ''The Queen of Spades'' and, with Chaliapin
as Boris Godunov, Fedor, a role in which she was heard in Paris in 1909, when
Diaghilev brought the troupe of the Imperial Opera to the Theatre Sarah
Bernhardt. She spent the years following her retirement as a teacher of
singing, first in Petrograd and later in Stalingrad .
She died after 1940.
