Joseph Orelio (Baritone) ('s Hertogenbosch 1854 - Den Haag 1926)




First he was active as a teacher, before he studied singing. Then he joined to the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam and soon belonged to the most popular singers of this theater. He created for Holland a number of roles in R. Wagner's operas like the Wotan, Hans Sachs in ''Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg'', Wolfram in ''Tannhäuser'' and Telramund in ''Lohengrin''. In 1899 he made guest appearance at the Hoftheater in Hannover. In 1895 and 1901 he gave a concerts in Berlin. He undertook a tour through Russia and sang in 1906 at the Covent Garden as Pizarro in''Fidelio'' and Kothner in ''Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg''.
