First he was a pupil of Achille Tondeur in Mons, then studied singing under Adolphe Maréchal in Lüttich. During the First World War he made his debut at the Opéra Royal de Wallonie. Here his repertoire included Rodolfo in ''La Bohème'', Cavaradossi in ''Tosca'', Duca in ''Rigoletto'', Alfredo in ''La Traviata'', Werther, Faust, Romeo in  ''Roméo et Juliette'', Jean in ''Hérodiade'' and José in ''Carmen''. In the 1919-1921 and 1925-1927 seasons he was a member of the Royal Opera in Antwerp. From 1921 to 1924 he appeared at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels. In this opera house he sang among other things in the premières of the operas ''Gianni Schicchi'' of  G. Puccini (1922) and ''La vida breve'' by de Falla (1923). From 1920 to 1934 he gave numerous guest performances and concerts in Marseille, Vichy, Strasbourg and North Africa. In last decade of his career he devoted himself to the appearances in R. Wagner's operas (Tristan, Tannhäuser and Parsifal).
