Marcos Redondo (Baritone) (Pozoblanco, Córdoba 1893 - Barcelona 1976)




He studied song and composition at the Madrid Royal Conservatory and then sang as an opera singer not only in Spain (Madrid, Barcelona), Cuba and Mexico, but also in Italy and Paris. He had probably his biggest success at the Teatro Liceo in Barcelona. On 23. 3. 1923 at the Teatro San Fernando in Sevilla in the premiere (in concert form) of Manuel de Falla’s ‘’Il Retablo de Maese Pedro’’, under the management of the composer, he created the role of Don Quichotte. Then he devoted himself almost exclusively to the Zarzuela appearances and attained an extraordinary popularity in this area. Last he lived in Barcelona.
