Augusto Ferrauto (Tenor) (Napoli 1903 - Napoli 1986)

He received his education in his hometown Naples. After his debut at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona as Rodolfo in G. Puccini's ''La Bohème'', he sang at the famous Italian opera houses, among other things in the 1935-1938 seasons at the Opera House in Rome (Luigi in G. Puccini's ''Il Tabarro'', Rinuccio in ''Gianni Schicchi'', Pinkerton in ''Madama Butterfy'', in 1942 in the Italian première of O. Gerster's' ''Enoch Arden''), in 1938 at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna (as Enzo in ''La Gioconda'' by A. Ponchielli), in 1939 at the Teatro Comunale in Florence, in the 1940-1942 seasons at the Teatro Alla Scala. His career reached the climax in the 1944-1946 seasons, when he sang at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. He guested with the ensemble of the Teatro San Carlo in 1946 in London. His extensive repertoire included roles like the Radames in ''Aida'', Riccardo in ''Un ballo in maschera'', Rodolfo in ''La Bohème'', Cavaradossi in ''Tosca'', Calaf in ''Turandot'', Enzo in ''La Gioconda'' by A. Ponchielli, Turiddu in ''Cavalleria Rusticana'', Canio in ''Pagliacci'' and Don José in ''Carmen''. He also appeared in contemporary operas of Zandonai, Rocca, Malipiero and in other modern works. In 1935 he sang at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples in the premiere of the opera ''Liolà'' by Giuseppe Mulè, in 1938 at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova in the opera ''Donata''of Gaspare Scuderi. After ending of his career he worked in Naples as a singing teacher.
