Adam Ostrowski (Bass) (? 1872 – Warsaw ? 1921)


He studied singing under Witold Alessandrowicz in Warsaw, where he and made his debut in 1898 as Ramphis in G. Verdi’s ‘’Aida’’. In 1904 he was appointed as a successor of Adam Didur at the Warsaw Opera in which he had successful career as the first bass. His powerful dark voice disposed of a superb vocal technique and reached her best achievements as Cardinal in ‘’La Juive’’ of F. Halévy, Mefistofele in ‘’Faust’’ of C. Gounod, Bertram in ‘’Robert le Diable’’ of G. Meyerbeer, however, he also appeared in R. Wagner’s operas. He made guest appearances in Buenos Aires, Montevideo and at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna (1904). In the 1916-17 season he worked as a manager of the Warsaw National Opera. He married the soprano Martia Frederberg.
