Dora Domar (Soprano) (Firenze 1888 - ?)




Her parents came from Spain. She worked as a girl in a fashion studio and received the first singing lessons by the pedagogue Rosina Liccioli in Florence. Her teacher drew the attention of the famous tenor Alessandro Bonci to the gifted pupil. When her parents died, Bonci took care and provided for her additional education by the pedagogues Augusto Dell'Amore, Bettinelli and Cottone. In 1907 she debuted at the theater of Valdarno near Florence in Puccini’s ‘’La Bohème’’. In 1909 she sang at La Scala the role of Amina in ‘’La Sonnambula’’ of Bellini. During the following years she appeared till 1912 in Italian provincial theaters, then she completely turned to the operetta. Her brother was the tenor Giuseppe Domar.
