Leonid Zinovieff (Litva, Vilnius 1876 - Belgrade, Serbia 1927)

The real name of this totally forgotten tenor is Lev Gips and he was born to a jewish family. He studied singing in Odessa, later perfected his vocal technique in Italy. Then appeared with great success in Kiev, Irkutsk (1906-1907), Kharkov (1907), Madrid, Italy (1910) and USA (1919). In the 1921-1926 seasons he was a soloist of the Belgrade Opera. Among his best roles were Radames in ''Aida'' and Eleasar in ''La Juive''.

He made his debut on 08.  31. 1923 at the Teatro Apolo in Madrid as Figaro in ‘’Barbiere di Siviglia’’. In 1931 he made his debut at the Teatro Real in Madrid singing in ‘’Traviata’’, ‘’Favorita’’, ‘’Rigoletto’’ and ‘’Barbiere di Siviglia’’.

Rosario Aracil (Soprano) (Alcoy, Alicante 22 1 1884 - Madrid 1962)




She studied singing in Milan and made her debut at the Teatro Liceo de Barcelona as Margherita in ''Faust'' (1910). Her repertoire included Tosca, Santuzza in ''Cavalleria Rusticana'', Aida, Amelia in ''Ballo in maschera'' etc. She participated also in zarzuelas and appeared in the premiere of Manuel Penella Moreno's opereta ''Privolina'' in Madrid.

Alice Zeppilli (Soprano) (Menton, France 28 August 1885 – Pieve di Cento, Italy 14 September 1969)

She studied singing in Milan under Elettra Callery-Viviani and made her debut  at the Teatro Lirico in Milano as Stella in the world premiere of Giacomo Orefice's ‘’Chopin’’ (1901). She retired from the stage in 1926. Later she taught singing in New York and Monte Carlo. Her the most famous pupil was Lily Pons.
