Katharina Fleischer-Edel (Soprano) (Mülheim an der Ruhr 27 September 1873 † Dresden 18 July 1928)



She studied at the conservatoire of Cologne, then in Dresden under August Iffert and made her debut in 1894 at the Hofoper of Dresden in ‘’Freischütz’’. After three-year-old activity in Dresden she was engaged in 1897 by Bernhard Pollini to appear at the Stadttheater of Hamburg, where she made her debut as Agathe in ‘’Freischütz’’. Till 1917 she appeared at this opera house with great success. After her retirement, she taught singing in Dresden. Her repertoire included Senta in ‘’Fliegenden Holländer’’, Euryanthe of Weber, Desdemona in ‘’Otello’’, Marie in ‘’Waffenschmied’’ of Lortzing, ‘’Trompeter von Säckingen’’ of Nessler and Pamina in ‘’Zauberflöte’’.
