Carl Lejdström (Baritone) (Stockholm 25 Oct 1872 - Göteborg 13 Apr 1922)




He was a pupil of his older brother Oscar Lejdström (1858-1926), who was a famous baritone. Later he studied singing under George Fergusson in Berlin and Julius Kniese in Bayreuth. In 1894 he became a member of the Royal Opera in Stockholm and till 1902 appeared in this opera house. In 1903 he went to Germany and studied again in Dresden. In 1904 he sang at the Bayreuth Festival as Donner in "Rheingold", Gunther in "Götterdämmerung" and Klingsor in ‘’Parsifal’’. In 1906 he again performed as Klingsor. In the 1905-1906 season he was a soloist of the Opernhaus in Frankfurt am Main. There he sang in 1905 the part of Hans Sachs in "Meistersingern". In the 1906-10 seasons he gave guest performances in German theaters. In 1910 he came back to Sweden and again became a member of the Stockholm Opera. In 1912 he made guest appearance in Amsterdam as Klingsor. He worked later in Stockholm as pedagogue; the famous soprano Nanny Larsén-Todsen belonged to his pupils. He was married the soprano Elin Linnnader (1888-1967) .
