Władysław Kiepura (Tenor) (Sosnowiec, Poland 1904 - Fort Lauderdale, USA 1998)

He was the younger brother of Jan Kiepura. He studied singing under Tadeusz Leliwa and made his debut in 1932 at the Kraków Opera in the title role in "Faust" Gounod. He appeared with great success at the Grand Theatre in Warsaw, Lwów, Poznań, Berlin, Dresden, Budapest, Riga. In 1935 he sang the leading role in S. Moniuszko's opera, ‘’Halka’’, at its premiere in Hamburg. In 1934 he appeared at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples. On January 29, 1939 he made his debut at La Scala, where he sang the part of Rodolfo in G. Puccini’s ‘’La Boheme’’. He sang in several languages including Polish, Russian, German, French, Italian and English. In 1940, he went to America, where he founded a family and lived there until his death. In 1940, 1941 and 1953 he appeared at the Chicago Civic Opera.
