Bohumil Pták (Tenor) (Prague, Czech Republic 1869 – Prague, Czech Republic 1933)

He began his career as an actor with different traveling troops. He was among other things a pupil of F. Pivoda. He made his debut in 1890 at the Opernhaus in Brno (Brünn) as Hans in B. Smetana’s "Verkaufter Braut" and appeared till 1896 in this opera house. The same year he made his debut in ‘’Dalibor’’ at the National Theatre in Prague. Here he soon had a great success and appeared as Roméo in ‘’Roméo et Juliette’’, Radames in ‘’Aida’’, Cavaradossi in ‘’Tosca’’ and Eleazar in ‘’La Juive’’. He sang at the National Opera in Prague in an important premieres of Czech operas of his epoch: on 23. 11. 1899 he took part there in the premiere of the " Čert a Káča" by A. Dvořák, on 31. 3. 1901 sang the role of Prince in the premiere of A. Dvořák’s opera ‘’Rusalka’’ and on 25. 3. 1904 appeared in the premiere of A. Dvořák’s opera ‘’Armida’’. In the 1912-1914 seasons he was active in North America, then came back to Prague. He spent the last ten years of his life completely secludedly.
