Konstantin Isachenko (Tenor) (Chernihiv Region, Ukraine 1882 - St. Petersburg, Russia 1959)

As many future singers, Isachenko sang during his childhood in a church choir. Konstantin Isachenko was heard by the well known vocal teacher, professor at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire, Rubez, who gave him his first singing lessons. During 1902-1908, Isachenko took singing lessons at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire with the famous teacher S.Gabel. From 1908, Isachenko sang at the National house in St. Petersburg. In 1911-12, Isachenko sang in Kiev, and from 1912 again in St. Petersburg, where he sang practically in all opera theatres of the city. In 1911, Isachenko undertook a tour through Europe (Monte-Carlo, Milan, Paris, London), where he sang in the Russian seasons of S.Djagilev. Despite being a lyrical tenor, his technique allowed him to sing parts such as Lenski, Alfredo, Berendey, Vladimir (Prince Igor), besides Almaviva etc. When he stopped singing, Isachenko became a known vocal pedagogue. He was professor at the Petersburg conservatoire (1918-1929 and 1938-1953). Among his students were Baturin, Geft among others.
