Jean (Iwan) Iwanzoff (Baritone) (? 1880 - ?)

He studied singing in St. Petersburg under N. Spasski, who trained him as bass. He took vocal lessons also from R. Nuvel-Nordi. From 1912 to 1916 he sang at the St. Petersburg Musical Drama and at the National House (1913—18). Appeared also in Moscow. In 1919 Iwanzoff went to Germany and during the 1920’s made guest appearances in Paris (Grand Opera, 1921), Berlin, Madrid, Barcelona (1921, 1922), on italian cities, Washington, D.C., New York. In 1930’s Iwanzoff lived in USA, where he started to sing with success as tenor in ‘’The Queen of Spades’’ of  P. Tchaikovsky and in other operas.
